Seed Phrase

A set of words used to recover a cryptocurrency wallet.

A Seed Phrase is a sequence of 12–24 words generated by a wallet that serves as a master key to recover all associated private keys and funds. Anyone with access to the seed phrase can restore the wallet on any compatible device.

Protecting the seed phrase is critical for digital asset security.

How Seed Phrases Work

Derived using BIP-39 standards

Convert random entropy into readable words

Can regenerate all wallet addresses

Allow full recovery if a device is lost or damaged

The seed phrase is more important than the device itself.

How to Store a Seed Phrase

Write it down on paper or metal backup

Never store it digitally (screenshots, cloud, photos)

Keep in a secure, private location

Never share it with anyone — ever

Use multisig or hardware wallets for added protection

Losing the seed phrase means losing access to funds permanently.

Summary

A seed phrase is a 12–24 word recovery key that unlocks and restores an entire cryptocurrency wallet. It must be kept secure and private at all times.
