OKX accepts listing applications through its official application page and asks projects to present a concise overview, verifiable ecosystem data, competitors and differentiators, tokenomics, team bios, funding and investor backing, and regular updates. For tokens that will trade in the European Economic Area, OKX also requires a MiCA-compliant whitepaper with explanatory notes, submitted to an EU national competent authority at least 20 business days before the target listing date and published on ESMA's register and OKX's website. OKX does not publish fees or a scoring system, and it warns that asking for a direct contact on the listing team can harm or even disqualify an application. After listing, OKX regularly reviews trading pairs and removes those that no longer meet its criteria, as it did with seven tokens and fourteen pairs in January 2026.

OKX is one of the largest centralised exchanges and, for many projects, a step up from their first listings. That makes its review more demanding and its standards for listed tokens stricter. This guide sets out what OKX publicly says it wants from applicants, how its European rules under MiCA change the timeline, and what to prepare so a token keeps its place after launch. If you are deciding where OKX fits in your venue plan, our guide to tier 1 vs tier 2 exchange listings is a useful starting point.

How to apply

OKX's help centre article How can I get my project listed on OKX? links to the official application page and is explicit that the guidance it gives does not guarantee approval. Decisions, it says, "are based on internal review standards and overall project quality".

Two warnings are worth taking seriously. First, OKX's dos and don’ts for listing describes asking for a contact person on the review team as a red flag that could lead to immediate disqualification. Second, it asks projects to avoid aggressive or misleading promotion and keep communications factual and verifiable. Any intermediary who claims to offer a guaranteed OKX listing or a private line to the listing team is, at best, selling something OKX says it does not want.

What OKX asks applicants to prepare

OKX lists the information that strengthens an application. The table below summarises it alongside what a convincing answer looks like.

What OKX asks forWhat a strong application shows
Project overviewA short, factual summary of what the project does, with real milestones, launches and partnerships
Ecosystem dataUsage metrics such as users, activity or market share, with the source and date for each figure
CompetitorsNamed competitors and a clear explanation of what is different, without marketing language
TokenomicsTotal and circulating supply, allocation, vesting and unlock schedule, and what the token is used for
TeamConcise bios of the people responsible, with relevant experience
FundingWho has invested, how much, and how the money is being used
Ongoing updatesProgress and setbacks shared through official channels, plus a MiCA whitepaper for the EU

OKX also notes that tokenomics matter not only to the exchange but to the early adopters who will hold the token, and that financial stability is a significant factor for exchanges. Both points lead to the same place: an application has to show that the token can sustain a healthy market after the first week. Our token listing checklist covers the full preparation list.

The MiCA whitepaper requirement for European listings

For the EEA, OKX treats a MiCA whitepaper as a mandatory regulatory requirement. According to OKX's guidance on asset listing whitepapers, updated in June 2026:

  • Content and format. The whitepaper and explanatory notes must follow the EU templates, include sustainability data and be provided in a machine-readable format.
  • Timing. It must be submitted to a national competent authority at least 20 business days before the target listing date on OKX, and the countdown starts only once the submission has been accepted.
  • Publication. The whitepaper is published on ESMA's register and on OKX's website, and OKX needs the project's consent to publish it. Without that consent, the token will not be listed.
  • Updates. Material changes after listing must be reflected in a revised whitepaper and communicated to the authority and to OKX.

Missing the deadline or submitting a non-compliant document postpones the European listing. Law firm Paul Hastings noted that new form and content requirements for MiCA whitepapers took effect on 23 December 2025 and that exchanges will delist existing tokens whose issuers have not published a compliant whitepaper. In practice, this means legal preparation should run in parallel with the listing application, not after approval.

How OKX reviews and delists tokens

OKX regularly reviews its listed pairs. When it removes them, its announcements typically cite user feedback and its internal Token Delisting and Hiding Guideline, and state that the pairs "do not fulfill our listing criteria", as in its October 2025 delisting notice. In January 2026, OKX removed seven tokens across fourteen USD and USDT pairs, including ULTI, VRA, RDNT and ELON, with deposits closed on 20 January and trading ending on 27 and 30 January, according to Coinpaprika.

OKX does not publish numeric thresholds, but the factors exchanges weigh are consistent across the industry: trading activity and liquidity, development activity, technical reliability, community and conduct. Liquidity is the factor a project can manage most directly, and the one that tends to deteriorate first when attention moves on after a launch. The broader picture is in why tokens get delisted.

Planning liquidity for an OKX listing

A larger venue brings a wider range of participants, including traders who place bigger orders, so the order book needs to absorb them without moving sharply. A sound plan covers:

  • Depth sized for the venue. Depth at ±1% and ±2% of the mid price should be planned against the trade sizes the token is likely to see on OKX, not copied from a smaller exchange.
  • Spread targets per pair. USD and USDT pairs both need continuous two-sided quotes, and their prices need to stay aligned with each other.
  • Alignment with other venues. If the token already trades elsewhere, OKX prices must track the rest of the market from the opening minute.
  • Coverage for supply events. Unlocks, campaign rewards and investor distributions should be on the market maker's calendar months in advance.

Which desks work well on OKX is compared in best market maker on OKX, and the targets to write into the contract are in what should be in a market making agreement. Exchange processes change, so confirm current requirements on OKX's official pages before applying.

FAQ

What are OKX's listing requirements in 2026?

OKX asks for a concise project overview, ecosystem data, competitors and differentiators, tokenomics, team bios, funding information and regular updates. Tokens that will trade in the EEA also need a MiCA-compliant whitepaper submitted to an EU authority at least 20 business days before listing.

How do I apply for an OKX listing?

Apply through the official listing application linked from OKX's help centre article on getting a project listed. Do not ask for a personal contact on the review team, which OKX says can harm or disqualify an application.

Does OKX charge a listing fee?

OKX does not publish listing fees. Treat anyone who requests payment for a guaranteed OKX listing with suspicion and verify any contact through OKX's official channels. Overall listing budgets are covered in how much it costs to list a token.

Do I need a MiCA whitepaper to list on OKX?

Yes, for trading in the European Economic Area. OKX requires a MiCA-compliant whitepaper and explanatory notes, proof of submission to a national competent authority and consent to publish the document. Without them, the European listing is postponed or does not go ahead.

Why does OKX delist tokens?

OKX reviews listed pairs regularly and removes those that no longer meet its listing criteria, citing user feedback and its internal delisting guideline. Weak liquidity, low activity, stalled development and technical or conduct issues are the usual reasons across major exchanges.

Do I need a market maker to list on OKX?

OKX does not publish such a requirement, but a token listed on a large venue needs continuous two-sided quotes and enough depth for larger orders. Without that, liquidity tends to fade after launch, which is exactly what periodic reviews pick up. See do you need a market maker to list on an exchange.
